Kumkum Novelty

Kumkum Novelty is right near the L P Sawani area on White Field Road. This part of Palanpur has changed so much since we first opened. It used to be much quieter, but now there are buildings everywhere. Our shop is a bit of a local landmark for the people living in the nearby apartments. We sell all the small novelty items that people need for their homes or for gifts. The shelves are packed tight, and sometimes things fall off if you aren't careful. It’s a bit of a maze inside. We spend a lot of time just dusting the items because they sit there for a while. My wife and I run the place together. She is better with the customers than I am. I mostly handle the stocking and the accounts in the back. We don't have any computers; we still do everything in a big paper ledger. It is old fashioned but it is what we know. The neighborhood kids often come in after school to look at the trinkets. We don't mind as long as they don't break anything. It is a busy life, especially during the festival seasons when everyone is looking for decorations. We usually stay open a bit later then. It’s a good place to be, and we have grown to know many of the families who live on White Field Road over the years. We just keep doing our thing every day without making any big fuss about it.
