Jai Mahakali Super Store

We’ve been operating out of Athwalines for a while, just running this general store for the local neighborhood. The shop is packed with all sorts of things, from large bags of rice to small packets of biscuits and individual soaps. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we get a lot of people in at once, but we manage to make it work. Every morning the milk delivery arrives early, so that’s usually how my day starts, moving crates around before the sun is even fully up. Athwalines is a nice area, but it gets very crowded during the evening rush when everyone is heading home and stopping for groceries. I spend a lot of time checking the labels and making sure nothing has gone past its date on the shelves. It’s a lot of standing on your feet, which can get tiring by the end of the week. We have a small wooden desk where I sit to do the accounts, usually with a cup of tea that’s gone cold because I got distracted by a customer. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of foot traffic over the years. We don’t really do any big advertising or anything like that, people just know we are here and they come in for what they need. It’s a steady rhythm of stocking shelves and helping neighbors find the right brand of flour.
