J. B. Cement Corporation

J. B. Cement Corporation is located at Shop No-14 in Happy Palace, right near Trikam Magar on L.H. Road. It’s a very busy spot. There is always a layer of grey dust on the front counter from the bags being moved around. The shop is small, mostly filled with samples and a desk where we handle the billing. Out back and on the curb is where the real action is, with trucks pulling up to load or unload heavy bags of cement. The air smells like lime and exhaust from the traffic on L.H. Road. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or talking to builders who pull up in their dusty SUVs. It’s loud, it’s hot, and we’re constantly moving. We don't have air conditioning in the main part of the shop, just a big ceiling fan that tries its best. Our clothes are usually covered in a bit of white powder by the end of the day. We know most of the drivers and the local contractors by their first names. We don't do anything fancy here; we just sell cement and make sure it gets to the sites on time. Sometimes the stacks of bags are so high you can't see the back wall. It’s hard work, and your back might ache at the end of the shift, but that’s the business. We just keep the gates open and keep the trucks moving along through the day.
