Gateway Hotel (Taj)

Our place is the Gateway Hotel down here in Surat. We are situated at the address everyone knows in the 395007 area. It is a big building and we have quite a lot of people coming in and out every single day. Working here means you see a lot of different faces, from people traveling for work to families just passing through the city. The lobby is usually the busiest part of the day. We spend a lot of time making sure the rooms are ready and that the kitchen is getting the food out on time. It is a lot of coordination between the different floors. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we know the Surat area pretty well. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just keeping the hotel running so guests have a place to sleep. Some days are quieter than others, especially during the middle of the week. Then the weekends hit and everything picks up pace again. We have our regular routines, like checking the inventory and making sure the lights are working. It’s just a job for most of us, but we try to do it right. You can find us easily if you are looking for the Taj spot in town. It has been a landmark in this part of Gujarat for a good while now. We just show up, do our shifts, and keep the doors open for whoever shows up next.
