Ganesh Kirana Stores

Ganesh Kirana Stores sits on Udhna Stadium Road, specifically in Yashwant Nagar 6. It is a standard neighborhood shop that has been around for a while. We have the usual setup with big open bins for different types of grain and pulses. You can smell the spices as soon as you walk in, especially the turmeric and chili powder we keep in the large jars. The walls are lined with wooden racks that hold everything from biscuits to bars of laundry soap. There is always a bit of dust in the air because of the heavy traffic on Stadium Road, so we are constantly dusting the packets on the front shelves. I usually spend my time weighing out portions into small plastic bags and tying them with twine. It is not a high-tech place; we still use a simple scale and write down some of the larger orders in a thick paper notebook. The floor is a bit worn out near the entrance from all the people coming in and out. In the rainy season, the dampness makes the store smell like jute bags, which is something I have just gotten used to over the years. We do not have any big signs or bright lights, just a simple board outside. Most of the people who come here live in the nearby blocks of Yashwant Nagar and just want their daily staples without any trouble.
