Dhaval Gener & Provision Store is located right in Ramya Nagar at number 7, in the Adajan Dn Bibvewadi area. It’s the kind of shop where you can find a bit of everything, though it might take a second to spot exactly where we put the lightbulbs or the specific brand of soap you like. We have been here long enough that the front step is a little worn down from all the foot traffic. The morning starts with us moving the heavy bins of grains out so people can see what’s fresh. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and carrying, but it keeps the blood moving. We don't have any high-tech systems here; we just know our stock by heart. The shelves are mostly metal and they can get a bit noisy when you’re pulling things off them. We see a lot of the same faces every day, which is nice because it makes the hours go by faster. If the weather is bad, the shop gets a bit cramped because everyone stands inside to wait for the rain to stop. We usually have a radio playing somewhere in the background, mostly just for some noise while we’re sorting through the deliveries. It’s a practical shop for the local folks who live in the surrounding buildings. We just try to keep the basics in stock so nobody has to go too far for a bag of salt or a bottle of water. It's just a regular daily grind for us.
