Dhanlaxmi General Store

We've been here at Siddharth Compound for quite a while now. Most folks in Sahakar Nagar know where we are, right across from Samay Comp. It's a busy little spot in Taware Colony. The shop opens up early every morning, usually before the sun gets too hot. We stock the usual things people need like soap, snacks, and stuff for the kitchen. It gets a bit crowded in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the road for a minute, but that's just how it is here in Adajan. My family helps out behind the counter when things get hectic. We try to keep the shelves full, though sometimes we run out of the popular biscuits. It’s not a big fancy place, just a regular general store where you can grab what you forgot to buy earlier. The fan stays on all day because it gets stuffy inside. We know most of the faces that walk through the door. Some people stay to chat for a few minutes while they wait for their change. It’s a quiet routine but we like it. The floor needs a sweep pretty often because of the dust from the street. We just keep going, day after day, making sure the milk is cold and the jars are filled up. It’s a simple life running a shop like this. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun but everyone still finds us. We don't have much room for fancy displays so we just stack things where they fit. It's just us doing our bit for the neighborhood and our neighbors.
