Chamunda Novelty & Gift Shop

Chamunda Novelty & Gift Shop is located at 2 Ganga Palace. We are in the underground section, which is actually quite nice because it stays a bit cooler when the Varachha Road gets hot outside. Being in unit B, we are tucked away a little, but once you come down the stairs, you see all the stuff we have. It is mostly gifts and small novelty things. I’ve been working in this basement spot for quite some time now. You can hear the traffic from the road above, but it’s mostly muffled. We have a lot of plastic flowers and small statues. The lighting isn't great being underground, so we use some bright bulbs to show off the gifts. People from the neighborhood come down here when they need something quick for a party. It’s a small space, so you have to watch your step. I spend my mornings unpacking boxes and trying to find a place for every new item. Varachha Road is always moving, always busy. Ganga Palace has several shops, but we are the one with all the colorful items in the window. It is just a regular local business. We don't have a website or anything. I just stand behind the counter and help whoever walks through the door. Some days are slow, but I don't mind the quiet. It gives me time to rearrange the shelves again. You get used to the stairs after a few years of going up and down every single day. The shop feels like a second home now.
