Amar Krupa Store

This shop is located at 657 in Ambica Society on Sayan Road. It’s been here in Surat for a good bit now. Mostly we just deal with the families living nearby in the society. Mornings are usually spent sweeping the front and getting the milk crates inside before the sun gets too hot. We have all the daily stuff like flour, sugar, and those small packets of spices people always forget to buy. It’s not a huge place so we have to stack things high up on the wooden shelves. Sometimes it’s hard to find where I put the smaller items. My back hurts a bit from lifting the heavy grain sacks, but that’s part of the work. The traffic on Sayan Road can be quite noisy during the day. It’s a simple routine here. We open the shutters, wait for the regulars, and chat about the weather or the local news while weighing out the dal. There’s no computer system or anything like that. We just use a calculator and a notebook to keep track of what’s going out. It gets a bit dusty with the road being so close, so we are always wiping down the counters. It’s just a normal way to make a living. People come in for a quick item and we try to get them on their way. We usually stay open until the street lights come on and everyone is back home.
