Nixon Steel & Power

We are set up in Birmitrapur, which is in the Sundargarh district of Odisha. Our place is really easy to find because it’s right near the Kalimandir and the railway station. Being close to the tracks means we hear the trains going by all day long, but you get used to it after a week. We work in the steel and power sector, which is a big part of the economy around here. It’s heavy work and it can get quite dirty. Our office is just a simple building near the temple. We don't have any fancy air conditioning or marble floors. It’s a place for workers and engineers to gather and figure out the day’s tasks. The dust from the industrial activity is everywhere, but that’s just how it is in a steel town. We’ve got a small group running the operations here. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words or polished presentations. We just make sure the power is running and the steel is being handled right. It’s a practical life. Most of us have been in this industry for years. On breaks, we usually head over to the small shops near the station for some tea and snacks. It’s a rough and tumble environment, but it’s what we know and we're used to it.
