Incredible Kashmiri Crafts

We are based near the Zadi Musjid in Safakadal. It is an old part of the city, and you can feel the history every time you walk down the street. Our workshop at Incredible Kashmiri Crafts is where we spend hours on end working on different pieces. It is mostly quiet work, sitting and focusing on the details of whatever we are making. Whether it is textiles or woodwork, it takes a lot of patience. Sometimes your hands get tired or the light isn't good enough, but we keep going. We aren't a big factory; it is more of a traditional setup where things are done by hand. People in Safakadal know us, and we see the same faces passing the masjid every day. We don't have a shiny showroom with bright lights. Our place is full of the smell of raw materials and the tools we use every day. It can get cold in the winter, and we have to bundle up while we work. We don't really have a big marketing plan. We just make what we know how to make and hope people like the work. It is a slow process, but that’s just the nature of Kashmiri crafts. We take pride in just showing up and doing the work that has been passed down through our families. It is a simple life centered around the craft and the community here in Safakadal. We mostly just drink our tea and keep our needles or chisels moving.
