Handoo Enterprises

We are based in Bohri Kadal, which is in the Khanyar area of Srinagar. It is a very historic part of the city with lots of old buildings. Handoo Enterprises has been operating from this exact spot for several years now. The winters here are very cold and long, so we spend a lot of time huddled near the small heater inside the shop. The building is made of old brick and wood. It has got a lot of character and some cracks in the walls. We deal with various items, mostly things that the local people in Khanyar need for their houses. It is not a very big operation at all. I do most of the work myself from morning until night. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to use candles or a small torch just to see the stock on the back shelves. The road outside can be quite narrow, especially when there is snow piled up on the sides in January. I like being in this part of town because you see the same people every day. We share stories over salty tea while we work. My family has been in this area for a long time. We do not have any big marketing plans or a website to show off. This is just a place where we do our daily business. The shelves are made of wood and they are getting a bit old and bent. I keep the accounts in a simple notebook. It is straightforward work.
