Our factory is over at A-22 in the Naraina Industrial Estate, Phase-1. If you come by in December, it’s absolutely chaotic here. Everyone wants their diaries and planners before the new year starts. The rest of the year is a bit calmer, which I prefer. We’ve been running Anand Diaries from this location for quite some time. The building is a typical industrial space—concrete floors and high windows that let in a bit of dust. We have big machines for cutting and binding, and they require a lot of maintenance to keep them from jamming up. I’ve got a small office in the corner where I handle the paperwork and talk to suppliers. It’s usually covered in leatherette scraps and paper samples. My hands are often dry from handling so much paper all day. We aren't trying to be the biggest diary maker in the country; we just want to make stuff that doesn't fall apart after a month of use. It’s a lot of repetitive work, folding and gluing, but there’s something satisfying about seeing a finished stack of books ready to be shipped out. I live not too far from here, so I’m usually the first one in to turn on the lights. It’s a bit noisy when everything is running at once, but you get used to it. We just keep our heads down and get the orders out as fast as we can.
