Umesh Tandon

Umesh Tandon runs Flolite Electrical Industries from the DSIDC Industrial Complex in Okhla Phase 1. It’s at unit 228. This part of South Delhi is always packed with people and vehicles. You have to be careful driving around here or you’ll get stuck for an hour in traffic. The building itself is an old industrial structure, one of those solid places that has seen a lot of different businesses over the years. Inside, we have our setup for all the electrical stuff. It’s a bit of a maze with all the wires and components sitting on shelves. We don’t really have a big sign out front, just the unit number. Most of the people who work here have been doing this for years. We know the rhythm of the complex, like when the tea stall gets busy or when the trucks start arriving for the evening pickups. It’s a very manual process. We don't rely on fancy software for everything; a lot of it is just knowing how things fit together. Umesh is usually around somewhere, either on the phone or looking at some parts. It isn't a glamorous job, but it’s steady. We just get the orders right and make sure they go out the door on time. Most of our day is spent making sure the inventory is correct and talking to the regular customers who have been coming to this unit for ages.
