Shahi Gas Tandoor

We are located at B-60, Shiv Park Khanpur, which is where we spend all our time building tandoors. Shahi Gas Tandoor isn’t a place with air conditioning or soft chairs. It’s a workshop where we cut metal and weld parts together. You’ll hear the hiss of the gas torches and the sound of hammers hitting steel all day long. Making a good tandoor takes a lot of manual labor. We have to make sure the burners are lined up right and the frame is sturdy enough to last. Most of us here have callouses on our hands from working with the tools. Khanpur is a lively neighborhood, so there’s always people walking by and peeking in to see what we’re making. We don’t have a website with fancy photos. We just have our workshop and the finished units sitting out front. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific part we need, so we have to go searching through the markets. It’s a lot of back-and-forth. We take breaks when we can, usually sitting on some crates with a cold drink. It gets dusty in the summer and cold in the winter, but the work stays the same. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just making sure people can cook their bread right. It’s what we know how to do, so we just keep at it every day for the locals.
