Shadab Alam

Shadab Alam here. I’m located at 12/381 in the DDA Flats in East of Kailash. It’s on the 4th floor, so I get a decent view of the neighborhood trees, though climbing the stairs keeps me fit since the lift is sometimes moody or under repair. New Delhi is a fast-paced city, but East of Kailash has its own rhythm. It’s crowded, yes, but very central to everything. I’ve lived in this flat for quite some time now. It doubles as my workspace during the day. It’s not very big, but it’s homey and quiet enough for me. I have a corner by the window where I keep my laptop and stacks of papers that I really should organize better. You can hear the sounds of the street vendors and the traffic from the main road nearby. It’s constant noise, but it becomes like background music after a while. I don’t have a big corporate team or an assistant. It’s just me handling the daily tasks and answering emails. I go to the local market for my supplies and snacks. Most of my neighbors know what I do, and sometimes we chat in the stairwell. It’s a community vibe here. I don’t use fancy slogans or marketing talk. I just try to be honest with my work. If someone calls, I answer the phone. If there’s a problem, I try to fix it. That’s the way I was taught. The 110065 area is a good place to be, even if the summers are absolutely brutal.
