Saqib Chicken Point

We are right across from the Jamia Co-operative Bank in Okhla. The shop is at 25B/3 in Phase I of the industrial estate, near Batla House Chowk. It’s a lively spot with people always coming and going. We sell chicken, and we’ve been doing it at this location for a long time. It’s not a fancy restaurant. It’s a place where you get your meat and maybe chat for a minute. The knives are always sharp and the blocks are always busy. We get our supply fresh and spend the day cutting and prepping for the customers. During the evenings, the area gets very crowded. You can hear the noise from the street and the bank customers across the way. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just want to sell chicken and make sure the weight is right. The shop is small, and it gets hot near the front, but we don't mind. We know most of the regulars who come in every week. It’s a simple life. We open the shutters in the morning, do the work, and close up when we are sold out. That’s how we have always done it here in Okhla. Sometimes the floor gets a bit slippery, so we have to keep mopping it down. There is always a lot to do, and we just keep our heads down and get on with it. It is what it is.
