N. Prakash Textiles

N. Prakash Textiles is located right here at 153, Vinobapuri, in the middle of Lajpat Nagar-II. If you know this part of Delhi, you know how crowded it gets. Our space is filled with stacks of fabric and rolls of cloth that seem to reach the ceiling sometimes. We spend a lot of our time moving things around to find exactly what a customer is looking for. It’s not a big showroom with air conditioning and fancy lights. It’s more of a working shop where we handle the inventory and talk to people who come in from the market. Some days are slow, but most of the time it’s just a lot of lifting and measuring. We’ve been in this spot long enough that the neighbors all know us. We drink a lot of tea while we work because the dust from the textiles can get to your throat after a while. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and people walking by, so there’s never a quiet moment. We don’t really do any big advertising or anything like that. Most people just find us because they’re already in the area looking for something specific. It’s a bit cramped inside, but we know where everything is kept. We just try to get through the day, help the people who walk in, and make sure the shop is locked up tight when we head home at night. It's just us and the fabric.
