We are over in Okhla Industrial Area, Phase I. Specifically, we’re at F-901. It’s a typical industrial spot with lots of trucks coming and going at all hours. Lipak Metrology is where we spend our days dealing with all sorts of measuring equipment and tools. It’s a bit more clinical than a standard machine shop because things have to stay relatively clean for the instruments, but it’s still an industrial unit at its heart. The air conditioning is always running to keep the temperature steady, which is a real relief during the peak of the Delhi summer heat. We spend a lot of time looking through lenses or staring at digital screens to get the numbers right. It’s quiet work for the most part. The team here is quite small, and we’ve been working together for a long time now. We don't have any fancy mission statements or slogans on the walls, just some charts and technical diagrams that we actually use for the jobs. Lunch usually involves someone going out to the local market to get parathas or dal for everyone in the office. The building itself is nothing special to look at, just a sturdy concrete structure like all the others in Phase I. We show up early in the morning to beat the worst of the traffic and usually head out before it gets too late at night. It’s a straightforward way to make a living.
