Abbas Mutton & Chicken Shop

Over here in Fatehpur Beri, things move at their own pace. Our shop is a small place where we handle mutton and chicken every day. It’s a simple setup. We have the cutting blocks, the scales, and the hooks. Nothing more, nothing less. I’ve spent more hours in this shop than I have in my own house, I think. You get to know everyone’s preferences after a while. One neighbor wants only lean meat, another wants bone-in. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when you’re standing on your feet for ten hours straight. The floor gets washed down constantly because that’s just part of the routine. We don’t have a website or any of that stuff. If people want meat, they just walk in. The street outside can get pretty muddy when it rains, and sometimes the electricity goes out, but we manage with what we have. It’s just a local shop for the people living nearby. We try to keep things straightforward. There’s no big corporate office behind us, just a few of us working together. Sometimes the birds outside make more noise than the customers. We just keep the shop open and do the work that needs doing. It’s a quiet life in a way, even with all the chopping and the talk from the regulars who stop by to chat.
