Zaika The Restaurant

Our restaurant is in the Phoenix Lodge Building on MA Road here in Port Blair. We are right by the Kerala Samajam, which is a good landmark if you’re trying to find us. Being in the islands, things move a bit differently, but we try to keep a steady pace. The building has been around for a bit. It’s a practical space. We don't have any of those modern glass walls or anything like that. Just a regular door and some windows. We get a mix of people coming in, some locals and some folks just passing through town. The kitchen starts early because there’s always prep work to do before the heat of the day kicks in. We don't use any pre-made stuff if we can help it. It’s just us back there with the pots and pans. Sometimes the supply boat is late and we have to change the menu a bit, but that’s life in Port Blair. We just handle it as it comes. It’s a small team, and we all do a bit of everything, from cleaning to serving. We aren't a big chain, just a local spot on MA Road doing our best every day. The salt air can be tough on the equipment, so we are always fixing something. It’s not a perfect place, but it’s ours and we work hard at it.
