If you go to Kundli and look for Kishan Dutt’s place at number 514, that’s where we are. We do a mix of things here, mostly furniture and hand embroidery. It’s a bit of an odd combination, but it’s what we know how to do. The furniture side of things means there is always sawdust on the floor and the sound of hammers or saws going. On the other side, some of the women and men are doing very careful hand embroidery work. It’s a busy house. We don't have a big showroom or a fancy website. People usually just hear about us from someone else and stop by the house in Kundli to see what we’re working on. Sometimes we are making a big wooden table, and other times we are finishing up a small piece of cloth with very detailed stitching. It takes a lot of patience to do the embroidery right, and the furniture takes a lot of muscle. We have a lot of scrap wood and thread lying around the place. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but that’s just how it goes when you’re actually making things by hand. We aren't some big factory; it's just local people using their hands to make stuff they know how to make. Kishan Dutt keeps an eye on the place and makes sure we have what we need. It’s just hard work and a lot of long hours in the workshop.
