You can find us out at the 82 Km Milestone. It’s a bit of a trek from the main city, but it works for us because we need the space for the cotton. We’ve been here at this spot for quite a long time. The yard is usually full of trucks coming in with raw materials or leaving with processed goods. It gets very dusty, especially when the wind kicks up off the road, but that is just part of working with cotton. We have a small office near the front where we keep the records. It’s mostly just a desk, some old chairs, and a lot of ledgers. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. We spend a lot of time checking the weights and making sure the storage is dry. Rain is always a worry for us. The machines in the back are old but they still run fine if we look after them. Most days are pretty much the same. We start early when it’s still cool and try to get the heavy work done before the afternoon heat hits. It’s a simple business without any bells and whistles. People know us because we’ve been at this milestone for so long. We just focus on the cotton and getting it where it needs to go. It is practical work and it suits us just fine.
