Chandan Traders

Chandan Traders is situated on Narasimha Suwami Temple Road in the Old Town area of Tahluka Bhadrwati. Being near the temple means there are always people walking by and a lot of activity throughout the week. Our shop is one of those old-fashioned places where we sell a little bit of everything that the locals might need. We have been here for a long time and the building shows its age. The walls are a bit weathered and the floors are uneven but it has character. We know most of our customers by name since they live right here in the Old Town. We don't have a computer to ring up sales. We still use a manual cash drawer and write out receipts by hand if someone asks for one. It’s a slow pace of life compared to the newer parts of town. We open the shutters early in the morning when the temple bells start ringing. Sometimes we spend more time chatting with neighbors than actually selling things but that’s just how it is here. We aren’t trying to compete with the big supermarkets. We just provide a convenient place for people to get their daily supplies. It’s a simple business run by a few of us who have lived in Bhadrwati our whole lives. There is always a smell of incense in the air from the temple nearby.
