Our place, High Octane Hotels & Resorts, is right in the middle of things at 25 Lower Bazar in Shimla. If you’ve been to Shimla, you know how busy and cramped the bazar gets. It’s a loud, living part of the city. We’ve been here for a while now, tucked away among all the shops and the people moving back and forth. Being in the 171001 area means we’re right where all the action is. It’s not a quiet mountain retreat; it’s a city hotel through and through. We don't have a lot of space for big gardens or parking lots, so we focus on what we have inside the building. The structure is quite old, like most things in this part of town, so we’re always fixing something or painting a wall to keep it looking okay. It’s just a few of us running the show here. We don't have fancy titles or a big board of directors making decisions. We just make sure the beds are made and the heaters work when it gets cold in October. Running a business in Lower Bazar means dealing with a lot of noise and a lot of different people every day. It’s never boring, that’s for sure. We try to be helpful to anyone who stays, giving them directions to the Ridge or telling them which shops have the best tea. It’s a practical way to live. We’re just a local business trying to do a good job in a very busy city.
