Working at Avanti on Strawberry Hill in Shimla is quite an experience. The views are great and the weather is always changing. We are a small branch of the Govt Of H P. We’ve been stationed here for quite a while now. The walk up to the office can be a bit tiring. If you aren't used to the hills, you will feel it in your legs. Our office isn't anything like the big modern buildings you see in the news. It’s an old place. It has thick walls that keep the cold out, mostly. We have a couple of small heaters. Most of us huddle around them during the winter months when the mist comes rolling in. Work involves keeping track of various state records. We answer queries from people who make the trip up here. We spend a lot of time writing in ledgers. Letters are filed away every afternoon. It’s a slow and steady kind of life. Sometimes the monkeys come and sit on the windowsills. This can be a bit distracting, but we just ignore them. No one here is doing big marketing. We aren't trying to impress anyone. We just have a job to do for the state. We do it as best as we can. The tea is always hot. We go through quite a lot of it. The 171002 area is peaceful. We like the quiet atmosphere for getting through our daily tasks without too much noise from the city.
