Our place is located at Manju Yadav’s house over in Singh Khera, Shekhpur. It’s where Sooryasuta Farmer Producer Company Limited runs things from. It’s not a big corporate building, just a regular house where we gather to talk about the farming. Most of us grew up around here. We know the roads and the people. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we just talk face to face instead. It’s better that way. We focus on the farmers in our little corner of the world. There’s a lot of work involved in getting things from the ground to the market. We mostly sit around the porch or in the front room to figure out the logistics. It gets hot in the afternoons. We have some tea and look at the ledgers. Being a producer company means we have a lot of different people to look after. Everyone has their own way of doing things. We try to stay organized, but sometimes it’s a mess of papers and phone calls. It’s honest work, though. We’ve been here in Shekhpur for a while now. The land is good if you treat it right. We just take it one day at a time. No sense in rushing when you're dealing with crops. You just wait for the season to turn and keep moving forward. It’s just how we live and work together as a group. Nothing too complicated about it.
