A. H. Sons & Company

You can find us in the Bowden Building over by the Power House. It’s an old name for an old business. We’ve been around through a lot of changes in this neighborhood. A. H. Sons & Company is basically a family-run thing that’s been passed down. We deal with whatever stock comes our way that makes sense for the market. The building itself has seen better days, but it’s sturdy and holds everything we need. We don't spend money on decorating the office; we’d rather just keep the lights on and the business moving. It’s often dusty because of all the files and the location, but we don't mind much. We spend most of our time on the phone or writing out invoices by hand. It’s a slow and steady kind of life here. People know where we are if they need something specific. We don't advertise or try to get people’s attention with loud signs. We just open up the shutters in the morning and see what the day brings. Most of our customers are people we've known for twenty years or more. It’s more about the relationships than anything else. We keep things simple and try to be honest about what we can and can't do. That’s just how we were taught to run things. It’s a lot of paper and a lot of history in these four walls. We just keep going and hope the next generation wants to take it over later.
