About Vediapan Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Salem
If you go past the Balanapalli Post Office, you’ll find us at number 251. Vediapan Rice Mill has been a part of this village for quite some time. It’s a small operation compared to some of the giants out there, but we stay busy enough. The building is older, but it does the job. We don’t have a fancy lobby or any of that. It’s just the mill, some storage space, and a small area where we keep the books. Most of the people in Balanapalli know us. We’ve lived here all our lives, so the business is really just an extension of the community. We don’t use any corporate talk here. We talk about the weather, the crop prices, and how the machines are running. Sometimes the huller gets jammed and we have to spend a few hours getting it sorted, but that's just a normal Tuesday for us. We do the work ourselves, mostly. It keeps the costs down and we know everything is being done right. The rice comes in from the local fields, and we make sure it’s ready for the kitchen. It’s a basic process that hasn’t changed much over the years. We like it that way. No need to complicate things with too much technology or fancy systems. As long as the grain is good and the machines are turning, we’re happy. It’s just us, doing what we know how to do in Balanapalli day in and day out.
