Sri Raagavendra Foods

Down in Seelanayakan Patty, you can find Sri Raagavendra Foods on Amman Kovil Street. It’s a small operation, really, based out of 26-A, Gangai Mari. The area around Ramayan Kadu is usually bustling with local people going about their morning. We do a lot of our work in the early hours when it’s still a bit cool outside. Our kitchen space isn't huge, but we make it work by staying organized. There is usually the smell of spices or frying grain in the air, which draws people in from the street. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that; we just make the food and sell it to whoever comes by or places an order. The street is narrow, so we have to be careful when loading the small vans for delivery. Our staff are all locals who know the recipes by heart. Sometimes we run out of things faster than we expected, and then it’s a rush to get more made before the day ends. The floor is tiled and we spend a lot of time scrubbing it down to keep things clean. It’s a modest place with a lot of heart and soul put into every batch we cook. We don’t aim for anything flashy, just good food that tastes like it should. Most customers are people we've known for years who stop for a quick chat.
