The Thirumali Balaji Chandrasekar Dall Mill is located out at 3/12, C-1, on the Nattamangalam Main Road. If you are driving through Maniyanur, you can usually tell when you are getting close to us because of the sound of the machinery and the trucks parked nearby. We deal with lentils and pulses, mostly processing them so they are ready for the market. The air inside the mill is always a bit dusty from the grain, and it gets quite warm when the machines have been running for a few hours. We have a few guys who handle the heavy lifting, moving big sacks of dal from the storage area to the processing floor. It is hard work and it gets messy, but it is what we know how to do. The road outside can get quite dusty too, especially when the wind picks up. We get farmers and suppliers coming by at all hours to drop off raw materials. It is a very local operation, and we don't have any fancy signs or a big reception area. Most of the space is taken up by the milling equipment and the bags waiting to be loaded. We just focus on keeping the machines clean and making sure the quality of the dal is decent enough for the shops that buy from us. It is a simple life centered around the harvest cycles and the daily grind.
