Valli Rice Mill

Valli Rice Mill sits right at number 89 in Mannarpalayam Village. If you know the Vazhapadi area, you know it is mostly quiet until the machines start up in the morning. We spend most of our days covered in a bit of grain dust and making sure the bags are filled right. It is not an easy job and the heat can get pretty bad during the summer months under the tin roof. We have been in this spot for a while and the locals know the sound of our mill. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit around and wait for it to come back on, which is just how things go in the village. We handle a lot of grain throughout the week. The trucks come and go on the dirt road leading up to the gate. It is a lot of heavy lifting and moving things around. We don't have any fancy computers or high-tech systems here. We mostly use old notebooks to keep track of what comes in and what goes out. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset. The neighbors in Mannarpalayam are good people and we try to stay out of their way. It is just a regular rice mill doing what mills do. There is nothing too special about it, just a lot of hard work and long days for all of us. We just keep at it.
