Udaya Food Company

Out here in Valappady, on Nalla Thambi Gounder Street, is where we do all our work. It is a food business, so keeping things clean is the main thing we worry about every single day. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors and washing down the equipment before we even start the day’s production. The street is usually quiet in the early mornings, which is nice when we are unloading the raw ingredients from the trucks. We get our supplies from the local markets and nearby farms whenever we can. It is mostly small-scale work here. We are not some massive factory with robots or anything like that. It is just people using their hands and some basic machines to get the food packed. The smell of whatever we are making that day usually drifts out into the street. Sometimes it is spices, and other times it is something sweeter. The neighbors do not seem to mind it much. We have had this spot for a long time now. The building itself is old, but it stays surprisingly cool inside which helps with the food storage. We do not have a fancy website or a person to do marketing. Most of our customers are from right here in the area or the next town over. They know what we make and they come back for it because it is consistent every time. We just keep our heads down and keep the batches moving through. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise till the evening.
