About Sulthania Morden Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Salem
If you go down to No : 505 in the Therkukattu area of Anna Nagar, you will find Sulthania Morden Rice Mill. Athur is a place where a lot of people know each other, so we don't really have to explain who we are to the folks living nearby. We have been milling rice here for a good while. Even though the name says "morden," we still do things in a way that feels pretty traditional. The machines are loud and they take up most of the space in the building. During the harvest months, the yard is full of tractors and trucks bringing in the paddy. It is a lot of hard work, and the air is always thick with the smell of toasted grain and dust. We usually have a small group of workers who handle the hulling and the bagging. They are used to the heat inside the mill. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, like when it rains and we have to move everything inside quickly so the grain stays dry. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It is just a local business trying to get the job done right so the shops in town have what they need. We spend most of our time on the floor, making sure everything is running okay and fixing whatever breaks down along the way. It’s a messy job sometimes, but someone has to do it so people can have their rice for dinner.
