Sri Uma Dhall Mill

You can find Sri Uma Dhall Mill at 331, Suramangalam Main Road. We are part of the Leigh Bazaar area which is always full of energy. It is a commercial spot, so there are many other shops and businesses all around us. The mill makes a lot of noise when it is running during the day. It is a steady humming and grinding sound that you just get used to after working here. We have bags of grain stacked everywhere you look. The air is often thick with the smell of the milling process. We wear our old clothes to work because they get covered in fine dust anyway. 331 is a big number painted on the door so people can find us easily among the other buildings. Leigh Bazaar is always crowded with people buying and selling all sorts of things. We’ve been here for a long time. The machinery we use is old but it still works well for us. We spend a lot of time maintaining the belts and oiling the metal parts. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend the whole day getting it to run again. That is just part of the daily job. We don't have a fancy office room. Just a small wooden desk in the corner with some paper ledgers. We write everything down by hand. It’s a busy life here in Suramangalam.
