Ponni Rice Mill

Down in Pennagaram Taluk, you’ll find us at Ponni Rice Mill. We are located in Adhanur on the Rangapuram Road. It’s a bit of a drive out here, but it’s where the work happens. The mill is a sturdy old place, and we spend most of our hours making sure the machines are greased and the rice is moving through the system like it should. There’s not much else around us except the road and the fields, so it stays pretty peaceful when the machines are off. We get people coming from all over the taluk to bring their grain or pick up what they need. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise. The building gets hot in the afternoons, but we just keep the doors open to catch whatever breeze comes off the Rangapuram Road. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle the equipment. Sometimes things break down and we have to spend half the day fixing a belt or a motor, which is frustrating but part of the job. We don’t put on any airs or try to act like we’re something we aren’t. We are just a local mill in Adhanur doing the same work we’ve been doing for years. It’s a simple life out here and we’re used to the rhythm of it. We keep the machinery running as long as there is work to do for the locals.
