A. R. Brothers

You can find us at New No: 93 on Kutchery Road in the Mylapore area. This is one of the oldest parts of Chennai, and it has a very specific feel that you do not get anywhere else. The road is always busy with city buses, scooters, and people walking toward the big temple nearby. We have been running A. R. Brothers from this exact spot for quite some time now. It is a small shopfront that leads into a deeper workspace in the back. We do not have air conditioning running throughout the whole place, so we mostly rely on the old ceiling fans and whatever breeze comes in from the door. Working in Mylapore means being part of a very active and noisy neighborhood. We hear the temple bells ringing and the constant traffic sounds all day long. The building is a bit cramped and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we make it work for us. Most of us here are family or have worked together for so long that we might as well be. We do not use any fancy corporate talk or marketing phrases. We just tell people what we are able to do and then we get on with it. Sometimes we sit out front on small stools when the work slows down for a bit. We know most of the people who walk past the shop every morning.
