Royal College

If you go past the overbridge on Main Road in Ranchi, you’ll find Royal College. It’s right there in the middle of all the city traffic. It’s a busy spot, with cars and rickshaws honking all day. The building itself has been around for a while. We have students coming in from different parts of the city and even from the smaller towns nearby. It’s not a very fancy place. The stairs are a bit worn down and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it's where we do our work. We offer various courses, and the classrooms are usually packed. You’ll see students hanging out near the entrance between their classes, just talking or checking their phones. We don't have a big campus with gardens. It’s more of an urban college where people come for their lectures and then head back into the city. The staff in the office are always dealing with some kind of paperwork or student query. It gets quite hectic during admission season. We try to keep things running smoothly, even when the power goes out or it’s pouring rain outside. Ranchi is a growing city, and we’ve seen a lot of changes around this overbridge area over the years. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, which is providing a place for people to study. It’s a straightforward, no-nonsense kind of college for the local community and we like it that way.
