Principal Correspondent Hindustan Times

I work out of Nanak Niwas, which is number 1265 1 over in the Anantpur area of Doranda. It’s pretty easy to find if you know where the over bridge is in Ranchi. As the Principal Correspondent for the Hindustan Times, my day is mostly spent chasing stories and typing away at my desk. The office isn't big—it’s just a practical corner where the news gets put together. Sometimes it’s quiet, and other times it’s a total mess of newspapers and notes. Being near the over bridge means there is always noise from the traffic, but it keeps me feeling connected to what’s happening in the city. I don’t have a big team or a flashy studio. It’s just me and a few tools of the trade. I’ve been in this spot for a while, and the neighbors know me well enough. Ranchi is a busy place, and there is always something going on that needs to be written down. I try to get the facts straight and meet my deadlines without too much fuss. It’s not a glamorous life, just a lot of phone calls and sitting in front of a screen. If you happen to be in Doranda and see the sign for Nanak Niwas, that’s where the work happens. It’s a simple setup for a job that never really stops, even when the lights go out.
