If you’re ever walking down Church Road in Ranchi, you’ll find us on the second street right beside Roopkala. We’ve been here at Ms R K Garodia Co for quite a few years now. The neighborhood has changed a lot, but we’re still in the same spot. It’s a bit of an old building, but it serves us well enough. We handle a lot of different things throughout the day, mostly paperwork and some trading. My desk is always a mess of ledgers and pens. Sometimes the power goes out in Jharkhand, so we just sit and wait or talk until it comes back on. It’s not like those big corporate offices you see in movies. We know the neighbors pretty well, especially the folks over at Roopkala. We often share a cup of tea in the afternoons when things slow down. Ranchi can be quite busy during the festival seasons, and our street gets packed with people. We try to keep the front of the shop clean, but with all the dust and the rain, it’s a constant job. We don’t have any big speeches about what we do. We just come in, do the work, and go home to our families. It’s a decent way to make a living. The 834001 area is where most of us grew up, so it feels like home. Nothing fancy, just us and the day's work.
