Gopal Industries

We are located on East Market Road in the Upper Bazar area. If you know this part of town, you know it’s always crowded and full of energy. Our building is right in the thick of it. We’ve been operating Gopal Industries from here for quite some time now. It’s a place where we get a lot of foot traffic, mostly people looking for industrial supplies or hardware. The shop floor is usually covered in boxes and metal parts. We don't have a lot of room for fancy displays, so we just stack things where they fit. My uncle started this place and I took over after I finished school. It’s a lot of work keeping track of all the different items we stock. The bells from the nearby temples and the honking of the rickshaws are the background noise of our lives. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of guys who have been with us for a long time. They know the inventory as well as I do. We don't use any high-tech systems, just a simple notebook and a calculator. It’s a traditional way of doing business, based on trust and being there when people need something. We might be a bit slow sometimes when it's really busy, but we get everyone sorted eventually. The roof leaks a bit during the monsoon, but we’ve learned where to place the buckets.
