Alam Pharma

This is Alam Pharma. We operate out of Alam House, which is in the Lower Cp Compound area. We are quite close to Gurunanak School in Hind Pidi. It’s a neighborhood where everyone knows each other. We deal with medicines and pharmaceutical supplies. The shop isn't huge, but we keep it organized so we can find what people need quickly. People from the school area come by a lot. We have shelves full of boxes and bottles. It’s a quiet place usually, except when deliveries arrive. We’ve been in Hind Pidi for a long time. My father was around here before me. We don't do much advertising because people just know where Alam House is. If you're walking past the school, you're almost there. We spend a lot of time checking dates on packages and making sure everything is in the right spot. It’s important work but we don't make a big deal out of it. We just open the doors in the morning and wait for people who need their prescriptions filled or just some aspirin. Sometimes the power goes out in the compound, but we manage with a torch. We have a small desk where we do the paperwork. It’s a simple setup. We are just local people helping other local people get their medicine. That’s about all there is to it. The floor is a bit uneven in the back room, so you have to be careful when carrying heavy boxes. We keep a small radio on for some background noise. It makes the day go by faster.
