Sunflower Pre School is right over in Marutinagar, close to the airport in Rajkot. You can actually hear the planes sometimes if you’re standing in the yard. It’s a small place, located at number 2, and it feels more like a house than a big institution. We spend a lot of time cleaning up plastic blocks and making sure the lunch boxes don’t get mixed up. The kids are small, so there’s a lot of running around and the occasional scraped knee. We have some bright posters on the walls, though some are starting to curl at the edges from the heat. Being in the 360006 area means we get a lot of local families from the nearby houses. It’s not very formal here. Most mornings involve greeting parents at the gate and trying to remember whose water bottle belongs to who. The building itself is older, with some narrow stairs and a small play area that gets a bit crowded. We don’t have a big office or anything like that. Usually, the staff just sits together in the main room when the children are napping. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the energy levels, but we’ve been doing it for a while now. The street outside is narrow, so drop-off time is always a bit of a mess with scooters and cars, but we manage to get everyone inside eventually.
