St Marys School

Being on Kalawad Road in Rajkot means we are in a part of town that has changed a lot over the years. The school has been around for quite a while, and the address at P.O. Box No. 26 is well known to the local postman. The buildings have that older style to them, with thick walls that stay cool even when the Gujarat heat is at its worst outside. We have a lot of history here, but we don't spend too much time talking about it because there’s always something else to do. There are always papers to grade or a parent coming in to ask about their child’s progress. The morning bell is a sound everyone in the neighborhood recognizes by now. We have a bit of space for sports, though it’s never quite enough for all the kids who want to play at once. The classrooms are simple, with fans that hum all day long. It is a quiet, steady sort of place where things follow a set rhythm. We don't have flashy signs or big advertisements; people usually find us because their older siblings or parents came here too. It’s just a school where we try to do a decent job every day and keep the kids on the right track. Sometimes the pigeons get into the rafters and make a bit of a mess, but we just clean it up and keep going.
