Miniland Convent School

Miniland Convent School is right on Jamnagar Road, just across from the Jain Temple. If you know where the Ghanteshwar Park Hotel is, then you’ve probably seen us. It’s a busy part of Rajkot with a lot of traffic passing by all day. We have a modest building here where we teach the younger kids. It’s a convent school, so we try to keep things quite orderly, though with kids around, it’s rarely actually quiet. The classrooms are filled with drawings on the walls and the sound of children reciting their lessons. There is a small staff of teachers who really know the local families. A lot of the parents work nearby and drop their children off on their way to work. We spend a lot of our time just managing the daily chaos of a school. There’s always someone who lost a shoe or a book that needs finding. We don’t have any fancy mission statements posted on the walls. We just want the kids to learn how to read and write properly. The playground is small, but they don't seem to mind. We just keep things running as best as we can, day after day. It’s a local school for local people, and we are fine with that. It’s just how we do things here on Jamnagar Road. The noise from the traffic is something we’ve just learned to ignore. We have some old cupboards in the office for our records.
