Khirshra High School

Down in Bhayavadar, which is part of Upleta, you’ll find our high school. It’s been sitting on this road for a lot of years. The building is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of students come and go. We don't have those fancy air conditioners or the latest computer labs that you see in the big cities like Rajkot. It’s a basic setup. We have desks, chalkboards, and a lot of books that have been passed down. Most of the kids come from the farms around here or the small houses in the village. They walk or ride bikes to get here. The yard is mostly dirt, but it’s where all the action happens during the break. You’ll see the boys playing kabaddi or just sitting under the old neem trees. The teachers are strict when they need to be, but they care about whether the kids actually learn something. We don’t have a website or a social media manager. News travels by word of mouth in a place like this. If someone does well in their exams, the whole village knows by evening. It’s a bit dusty and the paint is peeling in the corners of the staff room, but it’s a solid place. We just show up every day and do the work that needs doing. It’s a plain life, but it’s an honest one for everyone involved. We just keep the gates open and the pencils sharpened.
