A Success Science School

Jetpur is a busy place, and our school is right here in the middle of it in Rajkot. We are known for science, so we have these rooms set up with all the gear like beakers and balances that the kids use. It’s not a shiny new lab, but it works for the experiments we do. I spend a lot of my time making sure the chemicals are stored right and that nothing is broken or leaking. The building is a bit plain on the outside, but inside it’s full of activity from morning till evening. Students here are usually quite focused because they have a lot of exams to get through. You can often see them huddled together over a textbook in the hallways during the lunch break. The benches in the classrooms are a bit narrow, but we fit everyone in without much trouble. We have a small area outside where people can eat their lunch, though it gets quite dusty when the wind picks up in the afternoon. Being in Jetpur, we see a lot of people from the nearby villages coming in for education. It’s a practical school, not much for decoration or showing off. We just get on with the teaching and the lab work every day. Sometimes the equipment gets a bit worn out and we have to order replacements, which always takes more time than it should. It’s a lot of routine, checking the time, ringing the bell, and making sure the students are actually learning something useful today.
