You can find us in the New Shanti Bihar Colony, which is part of the larger Choubey Colony area in Raipur. It’s a residential neighborhood, so it feels a bit more relaxed than the city center. We are a senior secondary school, so we have the older teenagers mostly. They are always in a hurry. Our building is a typical concrete structure with big windows that let in the Chhattisgarh sun. It gets incredibly hot in the afternoons, and the ceiling fans never seem to go fast enough. We have a small courtyard where students gather during the breaks. The staff at Swami Vivekanand is a mix of older teachers who have been here forever and some younger ones who are just starting out. We spend a lot of time sitting in the office dealing with marksheets and registration forms. The colony kids walk to school, while others come from further away in Raipur. Sometimes the neighbors complain if the kids are too loud near the gates, so we have to keep an eye on that. It’s not a flashy place. We just have our classrooms, our blackboards, and our daily schedule. We try to keep things running smoothly, even when the printer breaks down or we run out of chalk.
