Shree Bikaner Marwadi Bhojonalaya & Restaurant

You can find us right in the middle of the bustle at Laxmi Market on Grand Road in Puri. This spot in Lugapatti is always busy with people coming from the temple or headed toward the beach. We started this bhojonalaya because there was a need for simple Marwadi food for the travelers and locals who wanted a taste of home. It’s not a big, shiny restaurant with air conditioning everywhere, but we have enough benches and tables for everyone to sit down and eat. We serve mostly dal, baati, and rotis, the kind of things we grew up eating. Since we are near the 752001 area, we see a lot of different faces every day. Some people stay for a quick bite, and others sit for a long time talking. The kitchen stays quite hot, especially in the afternoons when the Puri sun is at its strongest. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us making sure the food is ready and the water glasses are full. The Grand Road is always noisy with rickshaws and tourists, but once you step inside, it feels a bit more quiet. We just keep doing what we do, cooking every day and making sure there is enough for everyone who walks through the door. It’s a simple life running a kitchen in a place as spiritual and busy as Puri.
