Bidesh Ghar Restaurant is right in the middle of things at Swargadwar Square in Puri. It’s a very busy spot because of all the people coming to visit the temple and the beach. We are on Swargadwar Road, and you can usually hear the sound of the ocean if the traffic quietens down a bit. This is a family-run place where we serve meals to tourists and locals alike. Orissa has its own way of cooking and we try to keep that alive in our kitchen. The restaurant isn't very large, but we try to fit everyone in. It gets sandy sometimes because the beach is so close, but that's just Puri for you. We don't have any corporate bosses or big rules; we just run the place how we think is best. The 752001 area is always moving with rickshaws and pilgrims. We’ve seen the town change over the years, but our spot at the square stays pretty much the same. People come in looking for a simple meal after a long day of sightseeing. We don't put any fancy names on the menu. It's just food that we would eat at home ourselves. It’s a loud, busy, and honest kind of place to have a meal. We don't go in for any of that polished marketing stuff. We just open the doors in the morning and start the day's work of feeding whoever walks through them.
